Few artists embody both authenticity and energy on stage like Heyz, who returned to Lost Lands this year with his biggest set yet. We caught up with him after his performance to talk about the festival, his advice for up-and-coming DJs, and what’s next on his busy schedule.

For those who may not know you yet, can you introduce yourself?

Heyz: “I’m Heyz, I’m out here at Lost Lands. It feels like day eleven at this point—it’s such a wild ride. Honestly, it’s my favorite festival so far.”

How did this year’s set compare to your past Lost Lands performances?

Heyz: “I usually play daytime slots on the Forest Stage or Subsidia, but this time I was at The Grove. It was the biggest crowd I’ve ever had at Lost Lands—by a long shot. I couldn’t even see the end of it. It was so surreal. The night slot, the first laser hitting during my set, and the crowd just going insane… I felt completely in my element.”

A lot of younger DJs look up to you. What advice would you give to artists trying to break through today, especially with content?

Heyz: “You have to think like a social media user—what do you actually want to watch? It’s rarely just straight promo. People want your personality, your authentic, goofy self. That’s what connects. It’s harder now because being an artist isn’t just about making music anymore—you’re also your own marketing team. Honestly, you spend more time making content than making music. But that’s just the name of the game now.”

You’ve been on the road a lot lately. Can you tell us about your tour?

Heyz: “This is my biggest tour yet—the Heyz’d and Confused Tour. Bigger venues, sick new visuals, and everything’s just growing from last year. I’ve already played two branded Heyz’d and Confused shows, and right after Lost Lands I’m flying to Canada at six in the morning. It’s like this until December—no free weekends. I’m exhausted, but I’m excited. I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else.”

And what about new music—what can fans look forward to?

Heyz: “I’ve got a new cover with Wodd on Justin Timberlake’s ‘SexyBack.’ We flipped it into this unexpected, wonky, wooky, nasty track. It drops October 1st—on my birthday actually. I’m just doing Justin Timberlake a favor, helping his career out.”

Interviewing Heyz was nothing short of entertaining. He is truly a funny and authentic guy just like in his videos; and you can tell he’s fully invested into his craft. From festival stages to packed venues across North America, Heyz is showing no signs of slowing down.

With a heavy tour schedule and new music on the horizon, fans can expect 2025 to be Heyz’s biggest year yet.
