London-based artists Henri Bergmann and Wennink, are joined by Y do I to release their new single via Insomniac's Interstellar Recordings imprint. "Dark Darker" is a driving melodic techno track drawing inspiration from the Orwellian commentary on surveillance state culture.
Based in London, Henri Bergmann is continually recalibrating her craft, as the dynamic producer examines interest-piquing cross-sections of house and techno.
Initially formed as a duo, Y do I is now a solo project, filling melodic techno and progressive dancefloors with contemplative pieces designed for peak physicality.
London's Wennink is a producer and singer-songwriter whose compelling vocal delivery and sharp songwriting skills have established him as a highly sought-after presence across progressive house and melodic house & techno.
In “Dark Darker,” Wennink's vocals fill the track, with his smooth tenor hooks taking on a rhythmic, soulful quality throughout the song. His singing is complemented by understated scatting, leading into a series of rolling basslines, layered supersaws, and tight drums.
The husband and wife duo, Henri and Wennink, released their collaboration "Secrets Too Soon" on the label last year. Henri returned to the label a month later for "Memory Leak," amassing 928.7k streams to date, while earning radio plays from Armin van Buuren, ALOK, Laura van Dam, Pretty Pink, Andrew Rayel, and Volaris.
Henri is touring nonstop, with 8 Ibiza dates this Summer, a recently completed 5-stop Argentina Headline Tour, debut Australia Tour, Tomorrowland Thailand, and supporting ANYMA's 'ÆDEN' World Tour in Poland, Istanbul, and Ibiza. On the music side, Henri has collaborated with Arodes, Layla Benitez, Be No Rain, and is now looking forward to a longer form project to be announced in the coming months.
Y do I has more than 50.4M streams combined across his catalog, which includes releases with Kevin de Vries, Massano, ARTBAT, Ruback, as well as “End of Genesys,” a joint track alongside Anyma. He has an upcoming show for BLINK at Ministry of Sound London. Wennink has landed on established labels like Afterlife, Stil Vor Talent, This Never Happened, Crosstown Rebels, Watergate.
“After reading that the UK is the second most surveilled country in the world, I was immediately compelled to read George Orwell's 'Big Brother' again. I connected with the book more than ever, and the words 'dark' and 'darker' came up often. I wanted to work them into a lyric that captures the shrinking freedoms and privacies I see happening around me. More verses were written but the first verse I felt worked so well on a repetitive driving loop.” - Wennink
