Chill-bass duo ODESZA announced they will be curating their own festival, to Rolling Stone during ACL Fest 2018. Dubbed SUNDARA, the ODESZA-curated music festival will be held at the all-inclusive Barceló Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The four-day/night event will take place March 13th through the 16th.
“It’s a bunch of our friends playing a bunch of exclusive stuff,” Harrison “Catacombkid” Mills says. “We’re doing a bunch of DJ sets. We’re doing a different kind of extended live performance. It’s something we’ve never done before in a lot of ways and we’re really excited to do it.”
ODESZA will perform three different sets, including a special extended SUNDARA live set, which will feature exclusive edits and fan favorites, a NO.SLEEP DJ set and an intimate ambient DJ set paired with a guided yoga class. In addition to ODESZA, Rüfüs du Sol, Alison Wonderland, Bob Moses, Jai Wolf, TOKiMONSTA, Mount Kimbie, Kasbo, EVAN GIIA, Pluko and Golden Features will perform multiple sets.
Beyond music, the festival will feature daily yoga sessions, snorkeling, daytime parties, mini-golf, catamaran cruises, drink tastings, off-site day trips and more.
In a previous recent interview with Rolling Stone, Clayton “BeachesBeaches” Knight detailed some of the important elements they emphasize in their live performances.
“We spent a lot of time and effort in creating something that has these theatrical moments, ebbs and flows where it should, kind of has the whole broad spectrum of different sounds. I want it to have ambient moments, dance moments, theatrical moments,” Knight said. “You know, we have a lot of people come off and onstage. It’s a lot of moving pieces, but it keeps the energy up and keeps the show more interesting. We love taking people on this roller-coaster ride of energy, and I think, when you do that right, the big moments feel a lot bigger, and the intimate moments feel a lot more intimate.”
