Hippie Sabotage is bringing their North American tour to Chicago tomorrow night with a show filled with music from them and their talented openers that will keep you dancing all night.Read More
Friday, February 26th Chicago natives, Autograf took their tour to the Concord Music Hall, bringing several openers and a night of endless dancing and fantastic music. Of their openers, they brought the deep house duo, Axilon, whom I got a chance to sit down and chat with after their performance (interview will be posted later this week!). On top of that, there were also live sets from Teemid, Good Life, and Chet Porter. It was a great combination of openers supporting Autograf, and the show as a whole was special--one that none of the fans in attendance will forget.
From the beginning, Autograf delivered a performance filled with passion and energy and it lasted for a solid hour and a half. There was some unfortunate news that the third member of Autograf (who does the visual arts production), Mikul Wing, was in the hospital and was unable to make it to perform.
Regardless of his absence, the show went on and drew a fan base from all walks of life and brought everyone together for an evening filled with bliss and unparalleled energy. From start to finish, the crowd couldn’t get enough of their tropical house vibes and live performance. A majority of their set was performed with live instruments and putting their own twist to songs like Slow Magic’s “Girls,” along with their remixes and hit songs. To some surpise, they even brought a singer on stage to collab on a few songs--one of which was “Dream”.
Overall, the sound was incredible and the bass was at a level to which you could still hear the lyrics clearly---which is something that is unfortunately becoming more and more rare at shows these days. I really didn't know what to expect for their live set (having never seen them), but they blew me and the rest of the crowd away.
After their encore concluded, they did something truly special for their fans and brought out a big stack of their posters. They began signing them for fans and they stayed around to chat as well. When I had my chance to chat they exclusively revealed that they will be performing at Spring Awakening in Chicago this year; and that will be something you won’t want to miss. The music was brilliantly performed, the openers were great, and the crowd was one of the best I’ve seen. I don’t think that I could criticize this show even if I tried.
Stay tuned later this week as we dig deeper into a few of the openers through interviews with Axilon and Chet Porter are posted as well as a live video of ‘Dream’ from the set.
