Los Angeles DJ and producer Nicholas Alvarado, better known as "Pumpkin" was on his way to a festival in Texas when he was killed in a collision car crash yesterday, March 25. Sadly, both drivers were killed in the accident.
Pumpkin’s long-time friend, Sammy Bliss, took the unfortunate responsibility of telling the world of the tragic news on Facebook:
Pumpkin was a game-changer in the transformational festival scene and it shows in his beautiful original tracks, remixes and mixtapes . He was slated to perform at many music festivals this summer--including a local favorite, Infrasound Music Festival, in Highbridge, Wisconsin this June.
His first performance (in front of a crowd) was at none other than the iconic "Burning Man"--a transformative sensation located in Nevada's Black Rock Desert. Nick jokingly admits "it was kind of an awesome way to get flung into the fire like that"--and we're sure the pun was intended.
"Getting to connect with people without actually having to say a word is a really beautiful thing" - Pumpkin
He will be tremendously missed in electronic music community and forever in our hearts. Let's all take a moment to reflect and embrace the beautiful music he came here to make for us.
